Noemí Contreras receives a "la Caixa" fellowship

She is a PhD student at the Nanostructured Functional Materials Group pursuing her doctoral degree with the support of one of these prestigious fellowships. “la Caixa”, as well as the ICN2, supports talented young researchers.

”la Caixa” Banking Foundation is celebrating today a ceremony to announce the young researchers awarded through different fellowship programmes. Among them is Noemí Contreras, PhD student at the Nanostructured Functional Materials Group led by Prof. Daniel Ruiz. She is pursuing her doctoral degree in 2D MOF materials for electronic applications with the support of one of such prestigious fellowships.

"la Caixa" Foundation announces today 20 fellowships to carry out a doctorate at Spanish universities and research centres. To earn them, candidates went through a three-folded selection process: Eligibility screening; Remote evaluation (preselection); Face-to-face evaluation (final selection). Noemí Contreras succeeded in defending her proposal, as well as Mao Xiaoman from the same ICN2 Group did last year for a different “la Caixa” call: INPhINIT.

INPhINIT is a doctoral fellowship programme devoted to attracting international Early-Stage Researchers to the top Spanish research centres in the areas of Bio and Health Sciences, Physics, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It relies on the European Commission's support through the Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions - COFUND programme.

Thus, “la Caixa” is firmly committed with the importance of scientific progress, research, mobility, and professional qualification for the development of society. The ICN2 is one of the research centers supported by its fellowships to promote excellence in research and forging the researchers of the close future.
